On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of Osteosynthese International 2026 in Sofia.
Welcoming more than 230 participants and experts from around the world, the congress brought our international community together for a robust three-day scientific program featuring 111 oral presentations, including keynote and instructional lectures. It was an exceptional opportunity to exchange knowledge, share clinical experience, discuss challenging cases, and explore new directions in trauma care.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported this event and made it possible, to everyone who made their way to Berlin in the run-up to Christmas to exchange ideas and discuss the latest trends in reconstruction. The annual Küntscher meeting “Osteosynthesis International 2025” and the 3rd Military Surgery Meeting on Bone Reconstruction and Orthoplastic Surgery will remain in our memories as a high-profile joint venture. On behalf of the co-organizers, I would like to express my special thanks to the renowned faculty, who did justice to the topic of bone reconstruction and orthoplastics.
Septic reconstructive surgery is still a niche topic and needs to strive for visibility. This niche was in full bloom here and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Over 100 participants from 14 countries registered, including many friends and colleagues from Ukraine, but also from the Baltic states, the USA, Turkey, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Israel, and from many BG and Military hospitals in Germany.
The guest lectures by David Seligson, Scott Levin, and Gamal Hosny enriched this event, highlighting perspectives and opportunities for collaboration between a more Western understanding of reconstruction and the classical ASAMI philosophy. Combining the best of both worlds will remain an exciting task for future generations.
Many thanks to Robert Zura, President of the Küntscher Society, who believed in this joint venture from the very beginning and supported me in the most cordial and diverse ways in realizing the program.
As president of the GKS Meeting “Osteoysnthese International 2025,” I congratulate Prof. Asen Baltov and Prof. Dian Enchev on hosting the upcoming Küntscher Meeting 2026 in Sofia. I hope to see you all there again in September.
The 4th Military Surgery Meeting on Bone Reconstruction and Orthoplastic Surgery 2026 will be organized in close cooperation between the Bundeswehr Hospital Ulm and the BG Hospital in Tübingen. Jonas Kolbenschlag and Meike Wendlandt have now taken up the “Küntscher baton,” and we can certainly look forward to a fantastic program. I am looking forward to both events and wish everyone every success.
