Küntscher Society in Panama City, 19-21 October 2016
The Americas Group of the Küntscher Society gave a one day symposium in conjunction with the 17th Annual Congress of the Panamanian Society for Orthopedics and Traumatology in Panama City 19-21 October 2016 at the Sheraton Grand- Panama. The program was planned by Americas Group leader Dr. Alvaro Callizo in correspondence with Dr. Ricardo Mosquera of the Panamanian Society. The meeting was well attended by more than 200 Orthopedists and Residents in Training. Panama City has grown rapidly with ultra-modern sky scrapers, a warm tropical climate, and weather forecasts for rain which rarely materializes. The focus of the meeting was the treatment of difficult and unsuccessful fixation of fractures of the long bones of the upper and lower extremities. Discussion was lively. The Panamanian hosts presented good cases for discussion. There was excellent sponsorship from industry. The meeting was dedicated to the Memory of Dr. Jorge Barranco, a beloved and recently deceased colleague. Not to be missed in this small but strategic country is the Panama Canal, with its new enlarged section, the Panama Canal Museum and the old portion of the city, Casco Viejo, built after the English Pirate Henry Morgan sacked and burned the original center of Spanish America. The Americas Group is looking forward to next years’ Osteosynthese International in München.Prof. Seligson
